EPISODE 8 - Sich Mang (December, 2011. 60 minutes.)
Live set and interview with the world's one-and-only Wurkstep group, SICH MANG. Influenced by Chicago's footwork and juke scenes, but coming from an underground psych/art/noise background, Sich Mang make a uniquely psychedelic electronic music with focus on high BPMs, repetitive vocal samples & rolling sub-bass. Making their live debut only six months ago, I expect plenty of people to be singing their praises in 2012.

EPISODE 6 - Concern / Gordon Wilson Ashworth (October, 2011. 70 minutes.)
Exclusive, live set and interview with heavy drone artist Concern, of Portland, Oregon. Concern is Gordon Wilson Ashworth, a close friend of the host and the dude behind the legendary Oscillating Innards, member of Knelt Rote and proprietor of Iatrogenesis Records. Using only acoustic sources and field recordings, Concern creates massive, emotionally-resonant drone pieces magnified by the fragility of magnetic tape. Your host taped a late-summer Concern set in a Chicago loft direct from Gordon’s mixer, then conducted an interview a few weeks later as Gordon prepared to open for The Rapture, playing keys and autoharp for his brother Owen’s project, Advance Base (see: episode 2). We discuss Gordon’s creative process, maturing out of harsh noise fetishism, traveling, poverty and his various projects, including the very well-respected Oscillating Innards and grind/hc band Knelt Rote.

Larry "Fuzz-o" Dolman is the founder, editor and head writer of Blastitude, one of the world's first online music fanzines. Through his writing, he has also acted as something of an unofficial musical mentor for your host. He is an excellent musician from the mostly obscure, broken up and Nebraskan bands Opium Taylor, Head of Femur, Think (recently reformed), TV City and some solo stuff. In this episode (part one of two), we talk in depth about the art of Jamaican toasting, (the direct precursor to hip hop), and Mr. Dolman shares a mix of his favorite deejays from the 70's. Enjoy.

Ga'an is a dark, minimal prog band in which I play synthesizer and bass. We're going on tour in a couple of days, so in order to promote that, your host premiers selections from a forthcoming album which no one has heard - UNTIL NOW!!! There is also music from related acts like Fielded and Psychic Steel. The usual talking occurs in between, (including a passive-defensive riff about how my still-new-and-developing radio persona is a character, and not the real dude), although things are starting to get a bit more streamlined. Also, debut of an IHANR theme song! I'll be gone for a few weeks, so no new episodes until mid-June.
